Water Dragon - Colored

Description

IT DOES NOT LOOK QUITE THIS DULL IN REAL LIFE! 'tis not my fault. I edited the file to make it a little bit darker [which actually makes the colors show better, as strange as it sounds] so hopefully there is some improvement here.

Anyway - the coloring job was surprisingly fast in comparison to the lineart [which looks WAY different, it's trippy - see fav.me/d4gw67n ] This never fits on my scanner - in the lineart version it's cut off on one side, and in this version it's cut off on the other. :iconfacepalmplz:

Anyway, I tried a new way of coloring for this one [I'd done it before but on a MUCH smaller scale - this one in particular is done in a piece of scrapbook paper, about 12" tall and 9" wide, so it was pretty insane.] I used Copic Wide markers, which I had never tried before [the entire paper was colored with them as a base and I colored over them from there] butttt as the random Russo-Japanese artist guy who I talked to for like an hour in the ink pen section of A.C. Moore said, art is no fun if you don't throw some fear in there. But anyway I didn't totally butcher it so all is well...

And all this for Creative Writing, a class that colleges will see on my transcript and be like 'feh, easy A' and hack it out of my GPA but THOSE BITCHES HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THIS TOOK

Materials: Bazill Basics textured scrapbook paper, Prismacolor brown 005 ink pens, black Micron ink pens, tons of base layers of Copic Wide markers [G21 and B34], Copic sketch markers, Prismacolor markers, YG0000 ink [straight from the ink thingy, I used it for some of the glowing parts in the background - most were done with the YG0000 marker itself], gold gel pen, and a tiny amount of white gel pen. Also lots of patience and insane amounts of time, since this is the most detailed art thing I've ever done. Srsly people, ever. :iconsawthatplz:

The creativity and the colors you used for this image is so awesome! I already love dragons but honestly the red and green and the overall design with mixed patterns is really wonderful <3
